REED PLANTATION – Maurice J. Coty Jr., 58, died Thursday evening, June 9, 2011, at his residence. He was born Aug. 3, 1952, in Lincoln, the son of Maurice and Jeannette (Paradise) Coty Sr.

He graduated from Lee Academy in 1971. Maurice worked as a woodsman and a master carpenter. He was also known as the “scrap iron man.”

He is survived by his parents of Molunkus; his companion, Corey Davis of Reed Plantation; a daughter, Thirise Rollins of Houlton; four sons, Roland Caron of Houlton, Maurice Coty III of Cutler, Adam Coty of Scituate, Mass., and Christopher of Houlton; many grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; three sisters, Judy Fenoff of Vermont, Deborah Nass of Sherman and Cathy Reardon of Chester; and a brother, Gary Coty of Sitka, Alaska.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Parish of the Precious Blood, Main Street, Presque Isle, with the Very Rev. Jean Paul LaBrie, celebrant. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the church. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chapman Street, Presque Isle.
