PITTSFIELD, Maine — Three young boys have been summoned on multiple charges after they ransacked a local residence and stole valuable stamp and coin collections, police said.
Two 14-year-olds and a 12-year-old, all from Pittsfield, were summoned for criminal trespass, theft, criminal mischief and burglary, said Pittsfield Police Chief Steve Emery. All of the items, which included a stereo and were taken from a residence on Somerset Avenue, have been returned to their owner. Emery declined to identify the address of the burglary so it won’t become a target for other thieves. He said the burglary was unrelated to another rash of burglaries for which two other Pittsfield residents have been arrested.
Emery said the home was severely ransacked and estimated the damage to be at least $3,000. The investigation was led by Pittsfield Patrol Officer Michael Cote, who summoned the juveniles last week and released them to their parents.
