YORK, Maine — Maine authorities are investigating what appears to a fatal fishing accident in the town of York.
Police say the body of a man was recovered early Thursday from York Pond after he apparently fell out of a canoe and drowned.
Police Chief Doug Bracy says authorities were notified by family members that a male subject had gone fishing before dark and not returned. The man’s identity was not released.
The body was found after about two hours of searching.
Bracy tells WMTW-TV the body will be taken to the state Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.
