NEWPORT – Daniel F. Lowe, 60, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, in Pittsfield. He was born July 27, 1950, in Bridgewater, son of the late Chester and Ruth Lowe.
Dan was a man of community service. He served as a firefighter for several years, a police officer and later retired from the position of chief of police in Orono. He was a member of Sebasticook Valley Elks Lodge No. 2713 and had served as an exalted ruler. He was also a member of Meridian Lodge No. 125 AF & AM of Pittsfield. He enjoyed coin collecting, camping, playing horseshoes, watching John Wayne westerns on television and cheering on the Yankees. He was an avid poker player and loved taking trips to Foxwoods. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be lovingly missed by them and by his cocker spaniel, Shadow.
He is survived by his children, Adam Lowe of Newport and his companion, Nicole Berry, Christopher Lowe and his companion, Jaime Perkins, and their daughter, Ashley, of Warren and Sara Rivera and her husband, Ryan, of Canaan; his brother, Dale Lowe of Brewer; Constance Lowe, the mother of his sons; and Ramona Boucher, the mother of his daughter.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. with a Masonic service 7 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield. A funeral service with a presentation from the Elks Lodge will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, at the funeral home with Bill Johnson officiating. A gathering will be held immediately after the service at the Elks Lodge. The committal service will be private at Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.
