BANGOR and SAUGUS, Mass. – Regina Thelma Corson died June 18, 2011, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, Blue Hill. She was born Aug. 28, 1919, in Saugus, Mass., daughter of Edgar A. and Lucy A. (Wells) McKenney.
Regina attended the public schools in Saugus, Mass. At a young age she went to work for General Electric Co., working first on the line in East Boston where she was a light bulb inspector, then later in Lynn, Mass., as a company secretary. On June 26, 1949, she married Paul Corson. They were married for 43 years and made their home in Saugus, Mass., and later Beverly, Mass. Paul was the general manager for the Topsfield Fair, and Regina worked alongside him traveling and entertaining vendors and supporters of the fair. She loved to cook and enjoyed doing so for family and friends. Regina had an extensive collection of cookbooks. She had a keen interest in politics and loved to talk about current events. She had a strong, yet respectful opinion on topics. Throughout the years she was a member of Tremont Temple Baptist Church, Boston; Trinity Baptist Church, Lynnfield, Mass.; and Park Street Congregational Church, Boston.
Regina is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Cleveland and husband, Scott, of Brooklin; two sons, Paul T. Corson of Bangor, and Mark D. Corson and wife, Amy, of Shippensburg, Pa.; and seven grandchildren, Gareth and Drew Cleveland, Whitney, Andrew, Zachary, Hayley and Mitchell Corson. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul, in 1992; and her brother, Edgar T. McKenney.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, at United Baptist Church, 38 Pine St., Ellsworth. Interment will be in July at Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody, Mass.
