PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – Walter S. O’Brikis Sr., known fondly to many as Stan or Pops, and formerly of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., passed away into the heavens June 24, 2011, surrounded by family. He was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Millinocket, one of 13 children to Walter and Florence O’Brikis.
It was in Millinocket that he met his best friend and wife of 55 years, Lauretta. Together they traveled the country as he was a member of the U.S. Navy for 11 years. His final port was Lakehurst, N.J. “Pops” will be remembered by all for his great sense of humor, willingness to lend a hand and most of all his creative verses to the song “I Love Coffee.”
Walter is survived by his loving wife, Lauretta (Russell); and family of five boys, Walter “Skip” and his wife, Hillery, of Pleasantville, N.J., Marcus and his significant other, Stephen, of Tampa, Fla., Kevin and fiancee, Caroline, of Egg Harbor Township, N.J., Patrick of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Sean and his wife, Shannon, of Dorothy, N.J. He will always be lovingly cherished and remembered by 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
