DANVILLE, N.H. – Phyllis J. Leighton, 83, formerly of Salis-bury, Mass., and Cutler, died peacefully Monday, July 4, 2011, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Phyllis was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Cutler, daughter of the late Hilda Dennison.

She was the wife of the late Otis “Calvin” Leighton, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2001. She was raised in Cutler and attended the local schools. She had formerly worked at Owens-Illinois and CBS Hytron. Phyllis was a devoted advocate of animal rescue and saved many strays throughout the years. She enjoyed watching golf, playing bingo and occasional trips to Foxwoods.

She is survived by her two brothers, Charles Dennison and Maylon Dennison; many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, and many wonderful friends. She also leaves her beloved kitties, Tucker and Riley. In addition to her husband and her mother, she was predeceased by her sister, Mildred Davidson.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Remick & Gendron Funeral Home, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, N.H. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
