CARMEL – Clyde William Elston, 88, passed away peacefully June 17, 2011, with his family by his side, in Brewer. He was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Etna, son of the late William and Maude Elston.
He is survived by a sister, Shirley Sprague of Newport; a brother, Elwin Elston and wife, Elizabeth, of Florida; two sons, Wayne Elston and wife, Linda, and Barry Elston and girlfriend, June McClain, all of Carmel; two granddaughters, Connie Elston and Rebecca Elston; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea Elston and Brenden Boulay. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Elston, in 1976; and granddaughter, Marion Elston, in 1987.
Clyde served in World War II in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946. He was an excellent mechanic for many years. He also enjoyed auto racing.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a church service 6:30 p.m. July 12 at Highway International Ministries, Damascus Road, Carmel. A graveside service will be held at a later date.
