BANGOR, Maine — A Hampden man who got a ride from a Bangor woman called police to say she had a loaded gun in her purse, and Bangor police later stopped and charged her, police in both communities said.
Hampden police got a call Thursday night from the man, who initially reported that he was being chased but later said that Mary Fox, 29, had given him a ride to Hampden and showed him a loaded gun, Hampden police Sgt. Dan Stewart said Friday.
Hampden police notified their counterparts in Bangor, who stopped Fox on Harlow Street at 12:55 a.m. Friday, Bangor police Sgt. Garry Higgins said.
“They found a firearm on her and [charged] her with carry a concealed weapon,” he said.
Fox was carrying a 9mm Luger in her purse, Higgins said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
