SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Police in South Portland say a three-hour standoff with a robbery suspect ended peacefully when the man surrendered.

Joshua Nisbet allegedly held up a Mobil gas station Friday, threatening a clerk with a knife.

Police surrounded a Highland Avenue home where Nisbet was, but it took about three hours before he emerged and turned himself in.

WLBZ in Bangor says Nisbet is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
