BELFAST – Druscilla G. Estes, 68, died Saturday, July 16, 2011, with her loving family by her side. She was born Feb. 28, 1943, in Durham, N.C., the daughter of Major Harry M. and Erma G (Sanborn) Estes.
Druscilla loved family and enjoyed participating in family reunions. She loved all babies, and was concerned and cared for others more than herself.
In her younger days, when her father was in the military, she traveled with her family to many countries, including Japan, Germany, Austria and France. She loved to winter in Florida with her mother. Her mother established The Group Home Foundation, so Druscilla and others with special needs would have a place to call home. She will be missed by her fellow residents and staff at Marsh Road Group Home. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Belfast, and loved her church family and attending Sunday school. She enjoyed her time working for Belfast Industries until her retirement in November 2010.
She is survived by her guardian, Rose Melvin and husband, Bob, of Belfast; as well as many cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Carolyn Ann.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at First Baptist Church, 95 High St., Belfast, with the Rev. Dr. Foster Williams officiating.
