CAMBRIDGE, Maine — The state medical examiner’s office in Augusta confirmed Tuesday morning that a Cambridge man who was killed last week, allegedly by one of his sons, died of blunt force trauma to the head.
Angelo Licata, 33, of Detroit, is being held without bail at Somerset County Jail in East Madison in the death of his 63-year-old father, Alfred Licata.
Officials wouldn’t say what type of weapon was used in the slaying.
The younger Licata has been charged with intentional or knowing murder.
Authorities went to the elder Licata’s home at 14 Ham Hill Road after his wife, Arlene, dialed 911 from a neighbor’s house.
According to a police affidavit, Arlene Licata was upstairs in her two-story house when she heard banging and screaming on the first floor and subsequently observed “blood all over the kitchen,” according to the affidavit. She went to the neighbor’s house to call police.
Somerset County sheriff’s deputies who responded to the call discovered Alfred Licata’s body on his lawn.
If he is convicted of the Class A murder charge, Angelo Licata faces a minimum sentence of 25 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life.
