DANFORTH and LINCOLN – Larene (Irish) Spinney died July 28, 2011, at a Lincoln health facility. She was the loving wife of the late Gilbert Spinney. She was born March 20, 1926, in Bancroft, daughter of the late Forrest and Eleanor (Thompson) Irish.

Larene and Gib loved to go camping, watch the Red Sox and play bingo.

She is survived by two children, Kenneth Whiting and his wife, Bonnie, of Danforth, and Helena Lane and her husband, Robert, of Millinocket; four sisters, Gilberta Spinney of Winterport, Maxine Olmstead of North Carolina, Betty Barto and her husband, Merlin, of Florida, and Dorothy Manor of New York; four grandchildren, Jeffery Whiting and his wife, Kattie, of Lincoln, Kenneth Whiting Jr. of Hampden, Craig Whiting and his fiancee, Kristen Shay, of Danforth, and Kurt Whiting of Pennsylvania; eight great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two children, Wheaton and Nye Whiting; three grandchildren, Timothy and Robbie Lane, and Nye Whiting Jr.; and her three brothers, Frederick, Franklin and Curtis Irish. She will be greatly missed by her family as well as great friends, Paul and Mary Ann Carter of Millinocket, and Lorraine Downs of Lincoln.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Aug. 7 at Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth, where visitation will be held 1-3 p.m. Private burial will be at Danforth Cemetery.
