CHAPMAN – Mabel A. Brown, 87, passed away Aug. 2, 2011, at a local hospital. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Chapman, daughter of Perry and Doris (Walton) Henderson.

She and her husband, Delmar, owned and operated Mabel’s Donuts in the 1970s. Mabel enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting. She was the family entertainer and always enjoyed family and friends that came to see her.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Delmar “Butch” and Ann Brown of Greenbush, and Joel and Katharine Brown of Presque Isle; a daughter, Marilyn “Sister” Putnam and her husband, Charlie, of Mapleton; three brothers, Pat Henderson of Dallas, Carlton Henderson of St. Johnsbury, Vt., and Richard Henderson of Presque Isle; a sister, Irene Lint of Presque Isle; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and a special nephew, Peter Brown of Mapleton. She was predeceased by five brothers, Douglas, Winfred, Aubray, Elwood and Bobby Henderson; and seven sisters, Iona Perkins, Katherine “Kay” Gill, Clara Jett, Glenna Tingley, Betty Dahlgren, Donna Moore and Lois “Honey” Henderson.

Friends and family may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A private graveside service will be Thursday at Worth-Grendall Cemetery, Chapman, with the Rev. James Ackerson officiating.
