ST. AGATHA – Albenie “Ben” Roy, 80, husband of Muriel Daigle Roy, was commended into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Aug. 2, 2011. He was born June 19, 1931, in Frenchville, son of August and Delia Roy.
He grew up in Fort Kent where he met his wife, Muriel Daigle Roy. Together they moved to Manchester, Conn., where he owned and operated Ben & Sons Hardwood Flooring. Prior to flooring, Ben worked as an ironworker and as a welder for Pratt & Whitney. Upon retiring and turning his business over to one of his sons, he moved to St. Agatha, to enjoy what he referred to as “God’s Country.” He enjoyed camping, snowmobiling and four-wheeling. He was an active member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Manchester, Conn., a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus, St. Agatha, and member of American Legion Post No.145, Frenchville.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, he leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Muriel D. Roy, two sons, Kevin and his wife, Lois, of Hebron, Conn., and Steve and his wife, Tracy, of Ellington, Conn.; two grandchildren, Rochelle Roy and Kyle Roy; two stepgrandchildren, Samantha and Kyle Johnson; three brothers, Joel Roy and wife, Florence, of St. David, Raynold Roy and friend, Janet Lannan, of South Windsor, Conn., and Larry Roy and wife, Nancy, of Bristol, Conn.; a sister, Rinette Lynch of Enfield, Conn.; many nieces, nephews, and loving and caring friends.
Friends and relatives may call 8-9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Agatha Catholic Church with the Rev. Dave Raymond officiating. There will be a memorial service 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at Church of the Holy Family, Hebron, Conn., with Father Michael.
