TUCSON, Ariz., and BELFAST – Camilla (Doak) Hurford, 92, passed away peacefully Aug. 2, 2011, at Waldo County General Hospital, Belfast. She was born Oct. 22, 1918, in Belfast, daughter of Judge Carleton and Nellie (Brown) Doak.
She graduated from Crosby High School and the University of Maine, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Through the years she traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband, a career U.S. Air Force officer. Camilla was an avid bridge player and loyal Red Sox fan.
She is survived by her sister, Nell Tilley of Bucksport; brother, Lt. Col. Peter Doak, U.S. Army, retired, of Columbia Falls; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Maj. Robert O. Hurford; and brothers, Carleton Doak Jr., George R. Doak, James E. Doak and Norman W. Doak.
A committal service and interment will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Head of the Tide Cemetery, Doak Road, Belfast. Arrangements are under direction of Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 28 Elm St., Bucksport.
