HERMON – Cathaleen C. (Dean) Greene-Hodgkins, 87, died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Madison, to Cleveland and Mabel (Rich) Dean.
Cathaleen grew up in Madison and was educated in Madison schools. She was a resident of Portland for more than 40 years, where she was employed as a certified nurse’s aide at Maine Medical Center for more than 30 years. Since moving from Portland she had been a resident of Skowhegan and most recently of Hermon.
Cathaleen was predeceased by her first husband, Percy Greene; her second husband, Charles Hodgkins; and a sister, Bertha Corson. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Cushman and her husband, Joseph, of Hermon, Percy “Sonny” Greene of Windham, Elaine Greene of Freeport and Hazel Greene of Wesley Chapel, Fla.; grandchildren, John “Jay” Cushman, Mark Cushman, Sebastian Pennisi, Cathrine Shoemaker, Michael Greene, Tracie Cushman and Melissa Greene; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cleveland Stanley Dean and his wife, Norma, of Skowhegan and Robert “Bob” Dean and his wife, Stella, of Madison; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, at Evergreen Cemetery, Solon, with the Rev. Mark K. Tanner officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Hermon Veterans Memorial Park, care of Gladys Knowles, 659 York Road, Hermon, ME 04401. Arrangements are by Giberson Funeral Home, 40 Maple St., Madison.
