CORINNA – Betty Jo Nickerson, 42, died unexpectedly Aug. 3, 2011, at a Boston hospital after heart transplant surgery. Betty Jo was born May 14, 1969, in Bangor, daughter of Delwin B. and Barbara (Braley) Kimball.
She attended Palmyra schools and was a graduate of Nokomis Regional High School, class of 1988. Betty Jo married Arthur G. Nickerson May 18, 1991, at Pleasant Street Christian Church, Corinna. Betty Jo loved nature, being outdoors and any activity that had to do with being outside, such as camping, fishing and swimming. She was a devoted and loving mother and wife. Her family was the most important thing in her life and meant the world to her. She attended Hartland Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Arthur G. Nickerson of Corinna; her three children, Amelia Nickerson, Noah Nickerson and Anne Nickerson, all of Corinna; two brothers, Victor Kimball of Newport and Tony Kimball of Zephyrhills, Fla.; four sisters, Deborah Kimball of Dexter, Kelly Raymond of Palmyra, Robin Killam of Clinton and Lisa Ballard of Hartland; her special mother-in-law, Eileen Nickerson of St. Albans; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; an infant son, James; and her brother, Richard.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Hartland Baptist Church, Hartland, with the Rev. Edward Jaworski officiating. Burial will be afterward at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland. At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make donations to the family to help with expenses.
