ABBOT, Maine — Most Abbot property tax payers will see an increase in their bills when they receive them later this week or early next week.

Selectmen recently set a tax rate of $11.75 per $1,000 property valuation, up from the $10.35 rate in 2010.

All three expenses related to property taxes increased this year, according to town officials. Education costs made up the biggest percentage of property taxes, at 60.77 percent, while municipal costs followed at 28.30 percent and the county at 10.93 percent.
