VAN BUREN, Maine — The U.S. border station in Van Buren will be temporarily closed to all traffic for part of a day this month due to construction near the site.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the port of entry will be closed on Aug. 20 from 7 a.m. to noon. As part of the new port construction, a nearby train trestle will be removed and the road will be closed during that time.
All traffic — passenger cars, commercial trucks and pedestrians — must use alternate ports of entry during these hours. The Hamlin port of entry is 10 miles southeast and the Madawaska port of entry is 24 miles northwest.
