DEXTER – Frances Mary (Harrington) Hartford, 87, died Aug. 11, 2011, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born April 20, 1924, in Dexter, daughter of Carroll and Marian (Delano) Harrington.
Frances graduated from Dexter High School, Class of 1942. She was a communicant of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and a past member of Daughters of Isabella. Frances was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Bridge with many of the Dexter ladies. She cherished her family and especially times with them at the lake. Frances loved music, and was well known for her sewing and handwork. She had mastered the art of making battenburg lace, and had knit all of her children and grandchildren afghans.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen White and her husband, Norman, of Durham, Mary Ellen Hill and her husband, Don, of Mendocino, Calif., and Patricia Brawn her special friend, Tony Nightingale, of Dexter; three sons, Richard Hartford and his wife, Donna, of West Union, S.C., Dale Hartford and his significant other, Cheryl Dunn, of Newport, and Thomas Hartford and his wife, Robin, of Dexter; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dexter. Burial will be after at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
