BANGOR, Maine — People help themselves to food at the first Bangor Community Garden potluck at the Essex Street garden on Monday, Aug. 15.
About 46 people rent a space at the garden, where they can raise the vegetables of their choice in prepared raised beds.
“We wanted to give a spot to people who don’t have room for their own garden to have a spot so they can raise their own food,” said Charles Boothby, one of the community garden organizers.
Volunteers at the community garden also raise food for people in need.
