GREENBUSH – Donald L. Getchell, 57, passed away peacefully Aug. 13, 2011, at his home. Donald was born Sept. 5, 1953, in Bangor, son of Owen and Beulah (Lancaster) Getchell.
Donald enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, but most of all NASCAR, and for many years he drove a stock car of his own.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Vicki (Higgins) Getchell of Greenbush; his son, Donald Getchell Jr. of Greenbush; brothers, Clinton Getchell and wife, Valerie, of Milford, Wayne Getchell and wife, Rena, of Eddington, and Richard Getchell and wife, Marion, of Florida; sisters, Diana Murphy and husband, Jim, Donna Getchell, Betsina Parson, all of Florida, Nancy Free and husband, Butch, of Levant, Carolyn Nealy of Connecticut, and Joann Chase and husband, Jerry, of Veazie; his mother-in-law, Doris Toothaker; as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his parents; and two brothers, Owen Jr. and Ingerson.
Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon Road, Winterport, with the Rev. Roger E. Tracy officiating.
