LEE – Phillip L. “Buckshot” Downs, 74, husband of Audrey “Shady” (White) Downs, died Aug. 15, 2011, at his home. He was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Springfield, son of Nolan and Ethel (Cole) Downs.
Buckshot was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from Ametek after more than 40 years as a wire specialist. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing and having a few cold beers with friends and family.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Audrey “Shady” Downs of Lee, he is survived by a daughter, Beverly and her husband, Tony McCloud; a grandson, Thomas and his wife, Brandi Donahue; a great-grandson, Aaron Phillip Donahue; four sisters, Mildred and Andrew Clark of Plymouth, Jeanette and Robert Emack of Connecticut, Juanita Sutherland of Lincoln, and Bernadine and Charles Curtis of Vassalboro; several nieces and nephews. The family says a special thank you to his nephew, David Downs. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Frances; and four brothers, Bernard, Lloyd, Clayton and Calvin.
