FORT FAIRFIELD — Logan Boober tallied what proved to be the winning goal 33:10 into the game Monday to lift Fort Fairfield to a 2-1 girls soccer victory over Van Buren in the first game of the season for both teams.

Kylie Plourde picked up the assist on the winning goal for the 1-0 Tigers. Sarah Owens scored an unassisted goal 24:32 into the game. Katy Donovan stopped seven of eight shots.

Haley Lizotte scored for 0-1 Van Buren on an assist from Parise Rossignol 20:00 into the second half. Ashlie Wilson made seven saves on 12 shots.

At Fort Fairfield, Austin Bernier netted a goal and tallied an assist to spark Fort Fairfield past Van Buren in the schools’ mutual season opener.

Andrew Tuck and Bernier each scored a goal in the first half for the 1-0 Tigers. Dereck Dufour and Mikey McLellan each added a goal in the second half. Colin Cassidy chipped in with an assist. Chris Week made five saves on eight shots.

Caleb Roy notched an unassisted goal for 0-1 Van Buren in the second half. Marc Lajoie stopped seven of 18 shots.
