BREWER, Maine — A 16-year-old from Brooklin was caught attempting to steal a pair of sneakers, three T-shirts and a pair of jeans Tuesday morning from Marden’s, Sgt. Arden Jones said Wednesday.
“He took his [shoes] off and put the new ones on,” the sergeant said.
The teenager was seen on Marden’s video surveillance cameras at the surplus and salvage store placing his shoes into a backpack, which is where the other stolen items were found by police, Jones said.
The stolen items were valued at $57. The teen, who was not identified, was arrested and later released to the custody of a parent.
“All of the items were recovered,” Jones said.
