BANGOR — Tanner Bandel tripled home Asher Boudreaux with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday night, lifting the US Southwest all-stars from Tyler, Texas, to a 5-4 victory over Canada in the Senior League World Series at Mansfield Stadium.

In Wednesday’s other games, US West of Hilo, Hawaii remained unbeaten in Pool B play with a 10-0, five-inning victory over Asia Pacific representative Tanauan City, Philippines and the Latin American team from San Nicolas, Aruba, beat US Southeast of Palm Bay, Fla., 6-2. Also, US Central champ Midland, Mich., downed Tanauan City 10-4 and US East titlist Talbot County, Md., upended Maine District 3 champion Brewer/Orrington 7-4.

US Southwest 5, Canada 4

Five Tyler, Texas, pitchers combined on a four-hitter as the team stayed undefeated in the tournament.

Jacob Wadle got the win by pitching a scoreless eighth and Seth Gibson worked a scoreless seventh to earn the save.

Wadle opened the winning rally in the sixth with a single and eventually scored on Bandel’s triple.

Trace Reed knocked in two runs with a double in Texas’ three-run third, while Mason Mallard doubled and singled with an RBI.

Liam Wyatt hit two singles for Montreal, while Oliver Singson provided a run-scoring double to back losing pitcher Kris Hopkins, who went the distance.

Andy Filoteo and two relievers combined on a three-hit shutout for Hilo, Hawaii, on Wednesday morning.

The U.S. West champions (3-0) conclude pool play at 10 a.m. Thursday against U.S. Central champion Midland, Mich. Tanauan City fell to 0-3 after its later loss to Midland, Mich., and was scheduled to close out pool play at 1 p.m. Thursday against U.S. Southeast champion Palm Bay, Fla.

Filoteo pitched the first three innings for Hawaii against Tanauan City before Chay Tosen and Chad Teshima eached worked a scoreless inning in relief. The trio combined on four strikeouts while issuing three walks.

Hawaii scored four runs in the first inning, two more in the second and mounted another four-run rally in the bottom of the third to take control of the game.

Korin Medeiros led the winners with a triple, two singles and two RBIs, while Kolten Yamaguchi tripled and singled, Chayce Kaaun singled twice and scored three runs and Kean Wong also had two singles.

Mandy Castillo singled twice and Melvin Rosita had once single for Tanauan City’s only hits.

Drew Cassidy threw three innings of four-hit ball allowing one earned run and no walks, and Michael Wright notched four hits and one RBI as Midland, Mich., defeated Tanauan City, Philippines.

Midland is 2-1 in Pool B while Tanauan City falls to 0-3.

Midland will face Hilo, Hawaii, on Thursday at 11:30 a.m., and Tanauan City will take on Palm Bay, Fla., at 2 p.m. on Thursday.

Wright gave Midland a 1-0 lead in the top of the first after singling to lead off the inning, and was driven in four batters later on an RBI single by Travis Walker.

Midland exploded in the top of the fourth with four more runs on four hits and one Tanauan City error. Rico Angel reached first after getting hit by a pitch, and after a Cody Maier single Angel scored on a balk. Wright then singled in Maier to increase the lead to three, and Wright scored on an RBI single by Matt Somers. Somers then trotted home after a throwing error to give Midland a 5-0 lead.

Midland added two more in the top of the third, two in the fifth, and another insurance run in the seventh.

Tanauan City scored a run in the bottom of the third off Cassidy when Joel Lavado scored on a Midland outfield error after singling to lead off the inning, and scored one run in the fourth, and two more in the fifth, but couldn’t get anything more against reliever Robert Ellebracht, who pitched the final 2 2/3 innings, relieving Jonathan Hentschel who pitch an 1 1/3 innings.

Miguel Olmos had four hits and an RBI, and Lourence Ruiz added two hits and an RBI for Tanauan City.
