CUSHING – Richard Jay Pratt passed away Aug. 16, 2011, from complications from endocarditis. Jay was born Oct. 1, 1947, and lived in Cushing for 30 years. Originally he was from South Hadley, Mass.
Jay graduated from Kimball Union Academy and Parsons University. In 1989 he obtained his Master of Science degree in health psychology from University of New England and practiced in Rockland for a number of years before he began lobstering out of Owls Head. Later he lobstered out of Cushing until he became ill. Jay loved his trips sailing off the coast of Maine and Nova Scotia with his brother, son, nephew and friends. His favorite answer when asked how he was, was “finest kind.”
He leaves behind his son, Richard Pratt of Oakland, Calif., and his daughter-in-law, Ann Wees; his most dear and lovely lady of North Haven, Linda Haskell; his mother, Ella Pratt of Cushing; and his siblings, Bruce Pratt and Patricia Taylor.
Services will be noon Saturday, Aug. 20, at Broad Cove Church, Cushing.
