LINCOLN – Carl Spencer Sr., 82, went to be with the Lord Aug. 18, 2011, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born March 10, 1929, in Howland, son of Percival and Eunice (Wallace) Spencer.

He was at peace with himself, his family and his Lord. He looked forward to being with his beloved wife, Polly; and his dog, Twinkie. Carl retired from Georgia Pacific after 311/2 years. He enjoyed his retirement to the fullest. He liked to gather fiddleheads in the spring, going to yard sales, telling old stories and dancing. “Play one more for the old people,” he would always say. He will be truly missed by all, in loving memory. He lived by this prayer, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.”

He is survived by his five children, his nine grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren.

At his request, there will be no services. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. To sign an online guest book, and to leave written condolences, please visit
