FORT KENT – Gordon Gagnon, 87, died peacefully Aug. 27, 2011, at a Fort Kent health care facility. He was born July 28, 1924, in Wallagrass, the son of Antoine and Edith (Raymond) Gagnon.

Gordon worked as a farmer before being employed by Daigle Starch and later by Northland Frozen Food Co. as a foreman for more than 20 years. He was an avid gardner and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Evina “Lorraine” Hebert Gagnon of Fort Kent; their seven children, Rinette and her husband, Fernand Dufour, of Farmington, Conn., Philip and his wife, Linda Gagnon, of Fort Kent, Joel and his wife, Brenda Gagnon, of Wallagrass, Cecile and her husband, Danny Marquis, of Frenchville, Claudette and her husband, Bryant Babin, of Fort Kent, Juliette and her husband, Andrew Bouchard, of Sinclair and Lisa Gagnon of Augusta; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albenie Gagnon of Hartford, Conn., and Camille and his wife, Jeanne Gagnon, of Rhode Island; and six sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Molly and Gloria Gagnon, all of Connecticut, Irene Labrie of Frenchville, Yvette and Laurine Hebert of Fort Kent. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one granddaughter, Audrey Bouchard; two sisters, Essie and Antoinette; and seven brothers, Albert, Alberie, Leonille, Alphee, Armand, Norman and Lucien.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. Committal services after the Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Wallagrass.
