Danny Rivers
Rivers, a senior running back for the Old Town football game, sparked the Coyotes’ offense in a narrow 52-48 loss to Madison-Carrabec. Rivers rushed for 237 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, had one pass reception for 22 yards and returned four kickoffs for 100 yards in the high-scoring, closely contested game.
SMALL SCHOOLS
Craig Nealley
Nealley, a senior running back and linebacker for the Mount View of Thorndike football team, led the Mustangs to a season-opening 14-6 victory over defending Eastern Maine Class C champion Stearns of Millinocket. Nealley scored both of his team’s touchdowns on runs of 47 and 25 yards, and also shared the team lead with 11 tackles.

Ashley Robinson
Bangor High School senior striker Ashley Robinson had two goals in the Rams’ season-opening 4-2 win over Lawrence of Fairfield, including the game-winner, and she followed that with three goals and an assist in an 8-0 triumph over perennial Eastern Maine Class A championship contender Waterville.
SMALL SCHOOLS
Parise Rossignol
Van Buren High School sophomore Parise Rossignol figured in all five goals in her team’s 5-1 victory over Ashland. Rossignol scored three times and assisted on the other two goals.
