ALEXANDER – Joyce Crandall Craft Frost, 84, lost her 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, surrounded by her children and grandchildren, in Presque Isle.

She was born Feb. 9, 1927, in Houlton, daughter of the late Lucy and Ossian Crandall.

Joyce will be remembered by her community for her incredible work ethic, homemade pickles and flower gardens. She will be remembered by the Lady Blue Devils for never having missed a game and for having been their number one fan. Her children will remember her for always being at their side and never leaving them alone. They will remember with gratitude that she sacrificed her dreams to provide the opportunity for them to achieve theirs.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Velma; brothers, Woodrow, Roger and Joel Crandall; her husband, Gerald Craft of Alexander and their son, Joel Craft, of Presque Isle; her second husband, Pliney Frost and stepson, Rodney Frost, both of Alexander; her son-in-law, Harold Jones of Presque Isle; daughters-in-law, Diane Craft of Calais and Carolyn Frost of Wawig, New Brunswick; and a granddaughter, Sara Frost of Wawig, New Brunswick. Surviving are her eight children, Geraldine Jones of Easton, Lester Craft and his wife, Drena, of Caribou, Roger Craft and his wife, Roberta, of Calais, Timothy Frost of Wawig, New Brunswick, Terri Spooner and her husband, DJ, of Castle Hill, Melonie Frost-Wells of Troy, Ill., Lisa Frost Gardiner and her partner, Fred Getchell, of Presque Isle and Kimberly Frost and her husband, Jeroen Swinkels, of Evanston, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Brenda McPhail of Alexander; 23 grandchilden and 19 great-grandchildren. Her family extends their gratitude to her health care providers for the loving care they provided their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Visiting hours will be held 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be afterward at Alexander Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at
