PATTEN – Delmont “Dell” Leo Glidden, 85, died Sept. 9, 2011, in Houlton. He put up a courageous battle against cancer and died peacefully with his family by his side. Dell was born March 14, 1926, in Mount Chase, son of the late Leo and Ada (McKenney) Glidden. Dell came from a family of nine children.
Dell worked from the age of 14 as a woodsman. He was on the last river drive on the East Branch of the Penobscot River. Dell loved his family and friends. He enjoyed horse pulls, hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (McAllister) Glidden; his three sons and their wives, Dan and Melinda of Masardis, Brian and Felecia of Patten and Colen and Gayle of Patten; one daughter and her husband, Charise and Eugene Stubbs of Sherman; two sisters, Geraldine Craig of Alton and Marjorie Gerow of Bath; four grandchildren, Glen, Tori, Garth and Julie; three great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Alston, Hillary and Duaine Glidden; and three sisters, Lorraine Ordway, Thelma Benn and Edwina Glidden. His family would like to thank Dr. Hrynick for all the special attention he gave their father.
