ELLSWORTH – Gordon R. Adams, 93, died Sept. 7, 2011, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Canada, the son of James and Sadie Adams.
Gordon served with the U.S. Army in Okinawa and Guam during World War II. He was a past member of St. Andrews Masonic Lodge AF & AM No. 83, Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley, Bangor, and Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved the outdoors. He worked as an engineer for the Maine Central Railroad for 42 years. In the last years of Gordon’s life he lived with and was cared for by his daughter, Dorothy, later residing at Golden Acres Boarding Home.
Gordon is survived by one daughter, Dorothy Adams of Ellsworth; three sons, Harvard Adams of Levant, Charles Adams of Dedham and Richard Adams of Eddington; and many grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Frances; and his brother, Harvey.
