JACKMAN – Irene Gagne, a longtime resident of Jackman, passed away peacefully Sept. 13, 2011.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Turner and husband, Alan, of Hampden, and Rena Lumbert and husband, Wayne, of Jackman; son, Gary Gagne and wife, Mary Russo, of Merritt Island, Fla.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family thanks St. Joseph Hospice for their guidance and gentle care.

Irene and her husband, Diamond, operated Jackman Motel for 15 years. After her husband passed away in 1987, she continued the annual drive to Florida to visit her son and his family. For the past 23 years Irene worked as a bartender at Northland Hotel, where she was a friend to many. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, taking walks and creating special photo albums for her family. Irene was known for being independent, which made her family proud. She will also be remembered as someone who knew the value of hard work. Mom, you’ve worked long and hard throughout your life. Good night Irene! It’s time to rest. We’ll see you in our dreams …
