BAILEYVILLE – Verna May Thistlewood, 93, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Verna was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Alexander, daughter of the late Lester and Gladys (Perkins) Craft.
After attending Alexander area schools she married Robert Thistlewood. Verna was a member of Woodland Baptist Church, Baileyville, and enjoyed knitting, going for car rides and being around her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Robert; a daughter, Florence Gillmor; two sons-in-law, Michael Moores and Richard Mallory; and her brother, Gerald Craft. Surviving are her daughter, Janice Mallory of Baileyville; her sister, Dorothy McKeown of Calais; son-in-law, Edward Gillmor of Lincoln; two granddaughters, Vicki Lazzaro and her husband, Tony, of Baileyville, and Suzette Muhollond and her husband, Kenneth, of Alexander; four grandchildren, Candice Lazzaro and her companion, Jake Gagner, of Baileyville, Nicole LaPointe and her husband, Jeremy, of Bangor, Jamie Muholloand of Baileyville, and Kenneth Muholland of Alexander; and five great-grandchildren, Morgan and Paige Gagner, Alanna and Jordon LaPointe, and Keira Sanford; many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Verna’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will be afterward at Woodland Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at
