OLD TOWN – Richard J. Cote, 69, died unexpectedly Sept. 15, 2011. He was born July 21, 1942, in Old Town, a son of Felix and Eldora (Violette) Cote.
Dick was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing golf and going to the casino. He married Rose Doucette, July 21, 1962. He was employed for 32 years at Eastern Fine Paper and had been recently working part time with his daughter at her embroidery shop. He loved movies and music and had quite an extensive collection. Dick will be remembered for his smile and willingness to always be there to lend a helping hand. He was a communicant of Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rose (Doucette) Cote of Old Town; daughter, Bernadette Milligan and husband, John, of Bradley; son, Matthew Cote and his wife, JoEllen, of Old Town; seven grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Bobbie Jo, Shannon, James, Jorden, Chesley and Arabel; four great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Logan, Lucas and Chase; two sisters, Evelynn Bradman of Bangor and Velma Girrard of Florida; three brothers, Freeman of Milford, Franklin of Old Town and Rudy of Milford; dear friends, Alice Betters and Vicky Bayles; animal companions: cat, Lucky and dog, Todd; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Wanita Sapieo and Vivian Willette; and four brothers, Felix, Robert, Leon and Woodrow.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Burial will be after at Evergreen Cemetery, Bradley. Immediately after the graveside service, all are invited back to the parish hall at Holy Family for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
