MILLINOCKET – James P. McQuarrie, 68, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011. at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1942, in Rockville, Conn., son of Neal and Perlie (Walls) McQuarrie.
His family moved to Millinocket in 1943, and he graduated from Stearns High School with the class of 1961. He joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1962, and served until 1966. Jim worked many years as a meat manager for Millinocket IGA, and owned Jimmy’s Meat Market, Sherman Station. He also worked at Porter’s Woodworking in Patten and at Save-A-Lot, Dover-Foxcroft. Jim loved all his customers, rides with Mike, and having coffee at Appalachian Trail Cafe, Millinocket.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Norma (Hardy) McQuarrie of Millinocket; two children, Mary Louise Osborne and her husband, Charles, of Millinocket, and Jamey McQuarrie and his wife, Sara, of Hodgdon; four grandchildren, Charlie and Mallory Osborne, and Katie and Neal McQuarrie; a sister, Neila Ambrose and her husband, Carl, of Millinocket; a brother-in-law, Kermit Hardy; an aunt, Delia McQuarrie of East Millinocket; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where memorial services will begin 11 a.m. officiated by Deacon Dan Watson.
