BANGOR and MILLINOCKET – Beverly J. (Walsh) Duffy King, 78, died Sept. 17, 2011, at a local nursing home, after a long courageous battle from complications with the respiratory disease. She was born July 12, 1933, in Millinocket, daughter of Albert E. Walsh and Esther Mae (Friel)(Walsh) Appleby.
Beverly was in the first graduating class of St. Martins of Tours School, Millinocket, in 1951. She enjoyed the simple things of life, cooking – making homemade bread, playing cards, dancing and family gatherings. Beverly worked as a certified nurse’s aide at Katahdin Nursing Home, Brewer Convalescent and Stillwater Health Care. She lived at the Ellen Leach Home, Brewer, from September 1997 to March 2007, which she enjoyed and had made many good friends there. She was a resident of Ross Manor, Bangor, since March 2007, until her passing. Beverly had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell jokes and make people laugh. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (Duffy) Theriault and her husband, Richard, of Millinocket, Mary Jo (Duffy) Pitman and her husband, Mark, of Granite Falls, Wash.; two sisters, Anna McDunnah of East Millinocket and Joey Stratton and her husband, Richard, of Nalcrest, Fla.; two brothers, Frank Walsh and his wife, Pat, of Bangor, George Walsh and his wife, Isabelle, of Kenduskeag; and a half sister, Lois York of Rhode Island; four grandsons, John Schwarze Jr. and his wife, Camden, Timothy Schwarze, Tony Schwarze and his fiancee, Dianna Leakos, and Brandon Gagnon; three great-grandchildren, Haley Schwarze, Joseph Schwarze and John David Schwarze III; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you to Isy Walsh and Lily and Angie Enright for their frequent visits that always brightened her day. Beverly and her family thank all of her caregivers at Ross Manor for the wonderful care and compassion in the last four years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presiding.
