SOMERSWORTH, N.H. — A Maine man was indicted on eight counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault on a victim under the age of 13.

Nathan Goodwin, 28, of Warren, Maine, faces charges relating to incidents occurring on four different occasions between June 1 and Oct. 31 of 2007. The first count, states Goodwin engaged in sexual activity with a victim under the age of 13 in a bedroom. The second count states Goodwin engaged in sexual activity with a person under the age of 18. These second counts also occurred in a bedroom.

Goodwin is facing four indictments with a total of eight counts. Exact dates for when each assault occurred were not given.

Each indictment is classified as a special felony, carrying jail time of 20 to 40 years. Each indictment also carries the possibility of an up to a $4,000 fine.

Goodwin will be arraigned at Strafford Superior Court on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 9 a.m.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt; rather, it means a grand jury has found significant evidence to warrant a trial.
