GARLAND – Eugene M. Robinson, 72, died Sept. 22, 2011, with his family and his pastor at his side at a Bangor hospital. He was born Jan. 27, 1939, in Carlingford, New Brunswick, the son of Perley and Myrtle (Henderson) Robinson.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged as a petty officer third class. For most of his life he worked as a carpenter and dairy farmer. Gun collecting was his favorite hobby, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gene enjoyed spending much of his time volunteering for New Hope Baptist Church and Garland Days. He was known for buying flowers for the girls at the credit union and Garland Store.
He is survived by two sons, Krisken Robinson of Ohio and Sgt. 1st Class Arthur Ward and his wife, Marlene, of Bangor; three daughters, Regina and her husband, Ethan Fick, Lynda and her husband, Joe Baldwin, all of Garland, and Martha Ward of Corinna; eight grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband, Matt, Ethan, Seth, Nick, David, Sonja and her husband, James, Amanda and her husband, Ron, and Rachel; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Verla, Marline, Gloria and Connie; two brothers, Mike and Dale; many nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Tony; special friends, Norris Fillmore, Lloyd Collins, Tommy and Vicki Todd, and Pastor Will Walters and his church family. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Hayden) Robinson; a special friend, Herman Allen; and a sister-in-law, Jeannie Joslyn.
A celebration of his life will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, at the home of Regina Fick, 235 Exeter Road, Garland. A private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Garland. Arrangements by Crosby & Neal, Dexter. For an online guest register, go to
