700 ACRE ISLAND and ISLESBORO – Michael E. Macaulay, 65, of 700 Acre Island, passed away Sept. 25, 2011, in Belfast. He was born Oct. 18, 1945, in Damariscotta, to E. Donald and Olive (Hodgdon) Macaulay.
He served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard and worked for Dark Harbor Boat Yard for 40 years. Michael was a strong man of few words, someone whose nature would be to let his own work, accomplishments and actions speak for themselves.
He was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Carol Dyer Macaulay of 700 Acre Island; his children, Crystal M. Monahan and her husband, William, of Rockland, Mass.; siblings, Gail Rolo and husband, Arthur, of Sedgwick and Marc Macaulay and wife, Lori, of Hollywood, Fla.; grandchildren, Graeme William Macaulay and Jake Michael Macaulay; niece, Ali Macaulay of Hollywood, Fla.; cousins, Dick Hodgdon, Stan Hodgdon and Virginia Roberts, all of Boothbay; his black labs, Devil’s Island Taz and Devil’s Jabez Jake; and many, many friends.
