VAN BUREN – Phyllis M. Lajoie, 80, died Oct. 1, 2011, at a Bangor hospital. She was born May 30, 1931, in Van Buren, the daughter of Edmond and Alice (Bard) Bouchard.
She was a member of Daughters of Isabella, Columbiettes, American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 49 of Van Buren and the Third Order of Mary. She was a Mercy Meal Volunteer for many years. Phyllis also worked for the school as a cafeteria aide and at Johns Restaurant.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John A. Lajoie of Van Buren; one son, Brian Lajoie and his wife, Lorraine, of Van Buren; two daughters, Susan Lajoie and Kathy Vaillancourt, both of Van Buren; three sisters, Elmire Bailey of Presque Isle, Florence Dumais of Grand Isle and Joan Dumais and her husband, Gilman, of Grand Isle and Florida; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Sarah, Amy, Keith, Kelly and Brandon; and three great-grandchildren, Lucy, Abel and Jude.
Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
