HERMON – Opal Patricia Fox passed away Oct. 9, 2011, at her home after a recent illness. Opal was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Fort Fairfield, daughter of the late Harold and Alma (Kennedy) Tracy.

She married Clifford Fox, Sept. 23, 1948, in Caribou.

Through the years they lived in Caribou, Westfield, Presque Isle and Levant. Opal worked for Aroostook Trust Co., Caribou and Presque Isle; and United Savings Bank, Bangor, retiring with more than 35 years of service. Upon retiring Opal was active tending to the needs of her family. She enjoyed working, the outdoors, raising raspberries, gardening, cooking, knitting and helping others. Opal was a member of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Hermon, attending First Apostolic Church, Brewer, and Beacon of Hope Church, Bangor, throughout the years. She was active in church all her life; a wonderful God loving mother.

In addition to her parents, Opal was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Clifford Fox; two brothers, Clarence and Harold Tracy; and her sister, Geraldine Cote. Surviving are her five children, Jeffrey of Levant, William and his wife, Vicki, of Dixmont, Steven and his wife, Traci, of Stetson, Martha Getchell of Bangor, and Mary Dyer of Hermon; seven grandchildren, Benjamin and Tina Fox, Rachel Larrabee, Keri Phipps, Chris Gould, Holly Gunn and Hannah Dyer; eight great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 1-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Opal’s home, 2596 Outer Union St., Hermon, all are invited. All are invited to a funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at Seventh-day Adventist Church, 42 Orion Way, Hermon. A second set of visiting hours will be held 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at United Baptist Church, Westfield, all are invited. A graveside service at the conclusion of visiting hours will be held at Marshall Cemetery, Route 1, Westfield, all are invited. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
