SACO and BREWER – Gerald T. Cormier, 81, died Oct. 13, 2011, at a local nursing home following complications from multiple myeloma cancer. He was born Jan. 9, 1930, in Bangor, son of Leo P. and Laura (Despres) Cormier.

Gerald attended Bangor High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He married Elaine E. (Coffin) and celebrated 58 1/2 years of marriage. Gerald was a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus, Pine Cone Council No. 114, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7997, Saco, and a member of Civil Air Patrol. His hobbies included flying, fishing, hunting and golfing. He was past vice president of Bangor Roofing Co. and worked for M.B. Bourne, Portland and Risbara Bros., Scarborough.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, G. Thomas Cormier Jr.; a brother, Edward; and sister, Lorraine. Surviving in addition to his wife, Elaine E. (Coffin) Cormier, are his daughter, Sheryl Greene and her husband, Michael, of Sicily, Italy; son, Scott Cormier and his wife, Diane, of Holden; his sisters, Teddi, Florine and Shirley; his brothers, Alfred, Raymond and Robert; five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 531 North Main St., Brewer. Interment will be at Harts Corner Cemetery, Holden. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the home of Scott and Diane Cormier, 176 Clark Hill, Holden, after the interment.
