REXTON, New Brunswick – Josephine Flewelling, 71, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, with her family at her side at Rexton Lions Nursing Home, Rexton, New Brunswick. Born in Big Cove, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Fred and late Margaret (Peter Paul) Simon.

Josephine was a devoted and loving mother to her children. She worked as a registered nurse for many years at St. John Regional Hospital, St. John and Victoria Health Center, Fredericton, New Brunswick. For many years Josephine lived in Dover-Foxcroft, with her family where she volunteered her time within her community and attended St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church, Dover-Foxcroft. After returning home to New Brunswick, she was an active member of Elsipogtog Policing Committee and she attended St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Elsipogtog, New Brunswick.

Josephine will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 43 years, Lawrence Flewelling; daughter, Rhonda Flewelling and Garth of East Galloway, New Brunswick; two sons, Keith Flewelling and Martha of San Angelo, Texas, and Roland Flewelling of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two grandchildren, Kirsten and Guenevere Flewelling; one brother, George Simon of Elsipogtog, New Brunswick; many nieces and nephews. Josephine was predeceased by four sisters, Maggie May Clair, Mary Rose Peters, Doreen Sanipass and Mary Frances Augustine; and two brothers, Arthur and Wilfred Simon.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, Elsipogtog, New Brunswick. Interment will be at a later date. Donations may be made in Josephine’s memory to New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation or donor’s choice and would be appreciated by family. Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto, New Brunswick.
