CASTINE, Maine – Bridgewater State limited Maine Maritime Academy to 184 total yards, including a season-low 86 rushing yards, to register a 27-0 New England Football Conference victory Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field.
Justin Fuller rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bears (6-2, 4-2 Bogan Division) to the win. Mike McCarthy added 84 rushing yards and completed six of 10 passes for 72 yards as Bridgewater State netted 410 total yards.

The Mariners (4-4, 2-4 Bogan) dropped their fourth straight contest and were shut out for the first time since 2006.
The shutout was Bridgewater State’s third this season. Fuller reached the 2,000-career rushing yard plateau in the win and scored his 30th career touchdown. He now has 2,136 yards in his career.
The Bears scored the only touchdown they would need with 3:19 left in the first quarter when Fuller capped an 87-yard drive with a 30-yard jaunt. He also had scoring runs of 1 and 32 yards in the third and fourth quarters, respectively.
Dillon Huber-Parker returned an interception 32 yards for a TD to complete the day’s scoring.
Maine Maritime turned the ball over four times and could not generate consistent offense. Nick Bourassa of Jay finished with 45 yards on eight carries, while QB Ben Violette was 7-for-19 passing for 98 yards with two interceptions.
Joel Chadbourne of Westbrook posted 12 tackles, while Brock Lawrence of Benton contributed 11 and Frank True of Harpswell had 10, including a sack.
SUNY Maritime 34, Husson 13
At Winkin Complex in Bangor, Jamie Spanopoulos piled up 162 yards on 31 carries and scored two touchdowns to spearhead the Buccaneers to an Eastern Collegaite Football Conference victory over the Eagles.
SUNY Maritime (7-1, 5-0 ECFC) amassed 308 rushing yards, scoring the first 20 points of the game to take charge. Spanopoulos turned in TD runs of 6 and 5 yards.
Fritz Jean put the Bucaneers on the baord 2:32 into the game with a 25-yard scoring run, then Madison Leary booted field goals of 41 and 28 yards and Spanopoulos scored with 13 seconds left in the first half.
Husson received a boost when Godfrey Taylor returned the ensuing kickoff 55 yards for a touchdown, but Spanopoulos and Gary Bigham (1-yard run) added touchdowns to put the game out of reach.
Kash Keezer of Veazie threw a 12-yard scoring pass to Jack Hersom of Benton (3 catches, 33 yards) to account for the Eagles’ other touchdown. Keezer finished up 15 of 28 for 125 yards with a TD and two interceptions.
Chris Dalecki made nine tackles while Jason Nickola and Peter Cote added eight tackles each for Husson.
Clemson, KSU tumble in poll
NEW YORK — Clemson and Kansas State tumbled in The Associated Press college football poll after losing for the first time this season, and the top five teams in the rankings held their ground heading into the showdown between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama.
Clemson slipped five spots after losing 31-17 at Georgia Tech and Kansas State fell seven spots to No. 17 after getting thumped 58-17 by Oklahoma.
LSU received 47 first-place votes from the media panel, Alabama had 10 and No. 5 Boise State had one.
No. 3 Oklahoma State and No. 4 Stanford held on to their spots after victories, while the Broncos were idle.
Georgia Tech’s upset pushed the Yellow Jackets back into the rankings at No. 22 and Auburn jumped back in at No. 25.
The losses by Clemson and Kansas State leave six undefeated teams in major college football — the top five and No. 14 Houston.
The Harris poll has the same top five as the AP poll. In the USA Today coaches’ poll, the only difference in the top five is Stanford is No. 3 and Oklahoma State is fourth.
The rest of the top 10 in the AP rankings had Oregon at No. 6, Oklahoma moving up four spots to No. 7, Arkansas at No. 8 and Nebraska and South Carolina right behind.
Clemson at 11th was followed by Atlantic Coast Conference rival Virginia Tech.
Michigan is No. 13, its best ranking since Nov. 4, 2007.
Michigan State is No. 15, followed By Penn State, Kansas State, Georgia, Wisconsin and Arizona State.
The final five were Southern California, Georgia Tech, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Auburn.
The defending national champion Tigers have fallen out of the rankings three times this season, only to work their way back in.
Falling out after losses were two Big 12 teams.
Texas A&M (5-3) was upset at home 38-31 in overtime by Missouri and is unranked for the first time this season.
Texas Tech moved into the rankings last week for the first time this season by beating Oklahoma. The Red Raiders followed that up with a 41-7 loss at home to Iowa State and are unranked again.
Texas Tech accomplished a rare feat with their dramatic swing, becoming only the second team since the AP expanded to a Top 25 in 1989, to receive no votes in the rankings one week, be ranked the next week, then receive no votes the following week.
Washington did that in in September 2009, when the Huskies beat No. 3 USC 16-13 to jump into the rankings at No. 24, then lost to Stanford 34-14 the following week.
