EAST MACHIAS and MACHIAS – Muriel Mae (Seavey) Dowling passed away peacefully Oct. 28, 2011, at a Bangor hospital with her family by her side. She was born Dec. 2, 1929, in East Machias, daughter of Lester and Lyra Seavey.

She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her family was her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Muriel was a resident of Marshall Healthcare, Machias, and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles with her daughters, crossword puzzles, bingo and reading. She came to know the residents, especially Cora Quimby, her roommate, and staff as her second family.

Muriel is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Strout and husband, Emery, of Machiasport and Vivian Hall and husband, Jim, of Machias; a special sister, Vivian Arlona Carter; grandsons, Clifford Alexander Strout and James Elmo Hall and wife, Tami; granddaughter, Lyra Mae Hall; twin great-granddaughters, Kenadie and Chloe Strout; great-grandson, Kayden Hall; nieces, nephews; cousins, especially Dalton Munson and wife, Edith; and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Alexander Dowling; brothers, Dallas and Lester Delmont; brother-in-law, Alberton Carter; and special grandson, Douglas Strout.

Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias. Interment will be afterward at Jacksonville Cemetery, Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Douglas E.
