PORTLAND, Maine — Police had to be called to Maine Medical Center in Portland this week to deal with what was described as an “out-of-control patient.”

Police say Linda Barnard Annis, 24, hit a male nurse in the face and bit a female nurse on the arm, and also threatened to blow up the hospital.

She was charged with assaulting a health care worker and terrorizing.

Annis arrived at the hospital at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday and was being treated when the outburst occurred. It was unclear why she was in the hospital.

Cumberland County Jail reported late Wednesday night that she was behind bars, held on $1,060 cash bail.
