BANGOR – Charles “Nick” R. Bearce, 66, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at his home. He was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Bangor, son of Boyden and Eleanor (Sweeney) Bearce.

Nick was a graduate of Northeastern University and had a successful career as a certified public accountant. He enjoyed education and spent time as a professor at Bluefield College in West Virginia, and other colleges in southern China and Armenia. Nick also enjoyed politics and campaigned for seats on Bangor City Council and Maine House of Representatives.

Nick is survived by a brother, Michael Bearce and his wife, Gloria, of El Paso, Texas; sister, Nancy Bearce and her husband, Charlie Bennett, of Albuquerque, N.M.; nephew, Nicholas Bearce and his wife, Amy, of Raymond; niece, Alice Howley and her husband, Patrick, of Kremmling, Colo.; and sister-in-law, Ann Anderson and her husband, Eric, of Berlin, N.H. In addition to his parents, Nick was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Bearce.

A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Rex H. Garrett, director of chaplaincy services at Eastern Maine Medical Center, officiating.
